How it work?
Teeth whitening treatments are designed to help improve the appearance of tooth discolouration and staining.
Whitening gel is applied to the surface of the teeth and works by breaking down staining compounds within the enamel. This process may help reduce discolouration and improve overall tooth colour.
A range of whitening options is available, including in-chair and take-home treatments, which may be recommended depending on individual suitability.
In Chair Whitening Process
During in chair whitening, a professional whitening gel is applied to the teeth in controlled 15 minute applications throughout the appointment.
At the end of each cycle, the gel is removed and a fresh application is placed before continuing the treatment process. This is repeated as required during the appointment.

What about sensitivity?
Some patients may experience temporary tooth sensitivity after whitening treatments. This can vary between individuals
In chair whitening may be associated with a higher likelihood of sensitivity due to the concentration of whitening agents used.
Where appropriate, a desensitising gel such as
Philips Relief Gel may be recommended following treatment. It contains amorphous calcium phosphate, which may help support the remineralisation process and assist in managing temporary sensitivity after whitening.

In Chair or Take-Home Whitening?
Two professional whitening options are available, including in chair whitening and take-home whitening kits. The most suitable option will depend on individual needs, preferences, and clinical assessment.
In Chair Whitening
In chair whitening is performed under clinical supervision using the Zoom whitening system.
The whitening gel is applied in controlled 15-minute cycles throughout the appointment. At the end of each cycle, the gel is removed and reapplied as part of the treatment process.
This option is completed in a single appointment.
Take home whitening
Take home whitening provides a professionally prescribed whitening system for use at home.
Custom fitted trays are used with a lower concentration whitening gel. Treatment is typically worn for short daily sessions over a period of approximately one to two weeks, depending on individual requirements.
This option allows whitening to be completed at a time that suits your schedule.
Product information
Where appropriate, a professionally prescribed take-home system such as Philips Zoom DayWhite Whitening Kit (ACP & 14% hydrogen peroxide) may be provided.
This system is used with custom fitted trays and a prescribed whitening gel, typically worn for 15 minutes twice daily over a period of up to two weeks, depending on individual treatment requirements.
Important information
Whitening results vary between individuals and depend on factors such as enamel condition, staining type and oral health history.
A consultation is recommended to determine suitability and the most appropriate whitening option.
